Hiding in the Shadows

What is Shadow IT? IT is busy. We all know that. It takes a lot of resources to keep the lights on and the servers running. The number one priority of IT organizations is to ensure the performance and stability of an organization’s infrastructure. Everything else comes second, and sometimes there is no time to do anything else.

Users can grow impatient. This is a fact. Sometimes they just don’t want to wait for IT to give them the tools that they need, so they take matters into their own hands. Users go out and find their own solutions (often using public cloud solutions) or build their own solutions outside of IT.

This trend is growing, fed increasingly by “the consumerization of IT”. Unfortunately, for IT this trend often introduces additional risks that they must spend time resolving.

How many IT organizations have found cloud based file sharing applications installed on their network? It’s happening in your environment, whether you know it or not. The question is – what are you going to do, if anything, about it?

Often, there are enterprise class tools that are available to address the needs of the end users. It takes time and resources to find, test, and deploy these tools. Talk to us about your Shadow IT problems – we work with a number of enterprise class vendors and can help you find a solution that meets your organizations needs.
